This item does not report exact resolutions, and instead tiers. Otherwise you'd just see random resolution heights that are mostly meaningless to people.
Especially since the world adopted height for most resolutions (720p, 1080p) which are variable for films, when their widths are now. Why they did that I'll never understand. I assume it's because Television set these standards, not the movie industry.
So this sniffs out size and reports an estimated category of 1080p, 720p, 4K etc.
We'll add a 1440p tier to handle the in between.
This was resolved in the latest pre-release:
Thanks. BTW, AI suggested to look at the "height the frame would have at 16:9"
STANDARD = [240, 360, 480, 576, 720, 1080, 1440, 2160, 2880, 4320]
def res_label(w, h, interlaced=False):
equiv = max(h, w * 9 / 16) # height the frame would have at 16:9
tier = min(STANDARD, key=lambda s: abs(s - equiv))
return f"{tier}{'i' if interlaced else 'p'}"
There was also HD lite resolution used in the past e.g 1440x1080
