Another Call For Help: Does anyone manually edit the commercials on a lot of their recordings?

@eric i just did this, let me know if i can be of any help.

yes, I edit on almost every recording. The discovery channels Channels commercial marks are usually the most accurate, OTA comskip the worst. I pretty much delete the recordings once watched, so don't have a lot in the system, but Media Fingerprints generated.

Media fingerprints generating. Glad to help. I edit every recording that is not PBS, because it gets so much wrong. (I didn't edit a bunch of news/talk shows recently, but that's because we didn't watch them.) Forgot to pre-verify a show I watched last night, so of course found myself fast-forwarding through commercials. Most annoying is the way it will not skip to any segment under 30 seconds.

Unfortunately I don’t have any recordings as I delete them after I view them.

I can stop deleted them and get you a couple seasons worth of Australian OTA reality tv in the coming months?

Also side note, my edls only seem to appear once I’ve edited them, they don’t appear once the commercial detection has completed?

@tree2369 Thanks for the offer. I'll wait and see if there are others who already have a big catalog of edited commercials, but if I need more participants I'll reach out!

I'm very sorry everyone, but it look like there were a couple issues with how the fingerprints were stored that requires them to be regenerated.

@jagrim @scottuf @Pokemon_Dad If you could update to the latest pre-release and then Generate Media Fingerprints again and then re-upload your archives once it's completed, I'd appreciate it.

I have a hulu commercial ripper that rips out commercials

I don't see that option fyi I have 22036 recordings all processed by mcebuddy. a lot of which are from before I started using channels dvr. I am on the latest beta using the nvidia docker.

@techpro2004 what do you mean by "processed by mcebuddy"? We are looking for recordings where you have used the Edit Commercials functionality of the DVR and not modified the recordings on disk.

If you don't see the option I would guess that it's because Deep Video Processing is not enabled.

I'm not sure what you mean, but we are looking for recordings that have not been modified on disk.

mcebuddy runs comskip, removes the commercials, transcodes it to av1 and organizes it. I then add it through personal media to channels dvr. Please let me know if these files would be helpful to you.

@techpro2004 nope, that won't help. We are looking for people who fit into the original post. Thanks for offering.

I could try to start doing this again. I have all but given up on the commercial skip as it is wrong more than it is right. I've just dealt with it but I'd be happy to try and figure out what I need to do.

Anybody else out there fit into the requirements up top:

and is interested in participating?

I haven't edited commercials manually in quite a while but I could resume doing it.
When you say "a lot of recordings", what number is "a lot"?

Every little bit helps, but 50-100 or more would be meaningful.

So I have a lot of recordings i've never messed with, but i'm willing to put in some effort to help with better automated processing. what's the easiest way to do this? I'm aware of the server webpage for it but never messed with it due to forced transcoding on browser.

Do the recordings still need to exist? I have a daily show I usually manually verify but I delete the episodes after watching. I’ll submit if you like.

Yes, they do need to exist.

There is button on each recording in the web interface to Edit Commercials. There is also an option on the iPhone and iPad when you long press on an episode to Edit Commercials.
