Apple TV Frozen

Hello,

I have an issue where my primary Apple TV will not play video on the OTA antenna. When I try to watch any channel, it will show one frame of the video but will not play, I can pause/play with no change. If I reboot the Apple TV, it will work fine until I try to watch something later.

I can also load the HD Homerun app on my laptop, and tune to the same channel that is playing on the apple tv and it will play fine. Looking at the tuner status, Tuner 1 is showing that it is playing the channel, Tuner 2 is not is use.

This seems to be very recent, maybe coinciding with the TVOS 26.2 update? Any suggestions?

I also found another user having the issue - No resolution noted and the topic was closed after 30 days

The developers will need diagnostic data in order to look at the problem and come up with a fix.

You should submit diagnostics from the Apple TV device right after you experience a freeze.

You mentioned that this happens on your primary Apple TV. Do you have other Apple TV devices that don't have this problem?

I only get the freeze occasionally and only on one of my 4 Apple TVs -- the newest one (Gen 3 4K I think). Recently it has been pretty good...only one freeze in the last few weeks. I suspect there is an issue with the Apple TV.

I have been getting ATV freeze on playback of recorded shows.

So a few days ago I powered up an old TMTwin 4K sat box (connected to a Sky Q hybrid LNB) and managed to get an m3u url feed from OpenWebIf. I can play live TV via Channels with no problems. I can also record TV shows and play back on an iPhone and iPad (both running OS 26.2). But when I try to play back the same recorded show on the ATV 4K the ATV freezes, then after around 30 seconds it will start playing for about 10 seconds, then goes juddery, freezes for around 20 seconds, then plays etc etc, but key is no playback issues on iPad or iPhone for the same recording, and live tv playback has no issues on ATV.
I tried updating Channels to pre release 2026.01.04.0550 but that hasn’t fixed the issue.

I also have a HDHR connected to aerial in the loft but the Freeview reception isn’t great, especially compared to the Freesat live TV.

Any other suggestions?
