BETA: Experimental Imported Movie Matching

What I've noticed so far with Android clients (Shield and mobile) is watching a trailer causes the movie to be placed in continue watching. Some trailers are being acted on by com skip, Ghost Busters Afterlife for one. I have several movies in the library that when listed in the guide only ask if I want to record, this seems to be both recorded and play on recordings. However they work as expected in the web UI guide and show recorded or imported.
Be more than happy to do any testing requested.

For imported movies that have trailers on disk (like MovieName-trailer.ext), will those be presented? And what priority is given to them vs cloud trailers?

It seems it didn't work for me because the movie still got recorded last night.

I also see other imported movies in my DVR schedule.

Here's the first one tomorrow (2/24/2024):

In my library:

Also this one coming up on Sunday (2/25/2024):

Logs have been submitted as b2b89e5c-d111-4585-b260-620fa17b7570.

Let me know if you need more data.

What worked for me was manually doing the refresh movies comand and then pausing each advanced pass and then re-enabling it. The matches went from a high number to a lower number as the imports were excluded

@slampman Thank you for the manual workaround.

Before I do it, I will wait and see what @eric says.

What @slampman said is correct. If something has been scheduled it won’t be in-scheduled if an import starts matching later. So because those weren’t matching when the airing appeared, you have to do what he did to fix it.

Oh OK, that makes sense.

Thank you for the explanation.

I will then proceed with the manual fix. :slightly_smiling_face:

Is it possible to add a spot for different editions or cuts of a film? Examples would be the Theatrical and Director's Cut of some of the Star Trek or Lord of the Rings films.

I have a virtual channel set up for these movies and it would be nice to see the right edition, or should I just update the Title for the time being?

You should just edit the title.

Until now I didn't realize what that really meant. I thought since I still had the Experimental option unchecked, it wasn't being used.

Now I know

Yep.

The reason for the check box was not because it changed the DVR behavior in a meaningful way that people would have reason to opt out of, but because we were cautious of how the cloud component would handle the query volume.

Any plans to have Channels read nfo files from Videos (ie. Archived YouTube videos). That'll give me another option outside of JF to watch it

Any chance of bringing this to TV shows?

I know the preference is gracenote, but when I rename my files I include the {tmdb-xxxxxx} as some Australian shows don’t auto match for me on plex.

This obviously has the draw back of having to manually match all tv shows on channels.

Could the tmdb id be either included in the matching process or discarded if not in use for the original matching?

Thanks

The problem currently is the show is only matched to gracenote when episodes are imported.
After that you can match the episodes to tmdb using fix match, but it doesn't update the show metadata or artwork from tmdb, only the episodes. The show metadata and artwork are from gracenote and you would have to edit metadata and use the art picker to change the show metadata.

One of the reasons why I'm not importing anything currently.
Another reason is it can't accurately import recordings it made using gracenote guide data.

This just started happening. I had the movie Vertigo in my library via import. I noticed that early this morning the same movie was recorded. All of my sources use gracenote ID's so there is no custom xml guide or anything. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm trying to understand why this stopped working

@eric @tmm1 @maddox I submitted disanostics in case that helps:

I'm seeing the same movie show up when they are from different sources so similar to you. I also noticed the panels look different as yours do. I can't say the same regarding custom xml guide data as I use FastChannels.

That's interesting.

My guess is that the import doesn't have a program ID matching the program ID of the recording.

I don't know how Channels can match an import with a recording.

You said that it just started doing this so I guess it was working before.

I'm curious about the actual explanation so I will keep an eye on this thread.

Check out the url in the orig post where it refrences the feature.
