Bug? Status while watching OTA (HDHR)

Should the activity while watching OTA via an HDHR (FLEX-DUO) be reflected on the Settings>Status page as well when clicking on the little "Status" icon (recently added, to the left of the Search box)?

I noticed over the weekend that while watching a college football game that the status was accurately shown on both. Haven't seen it since. Now, while watching OTA through Channels DVR, the status simply shows as "Idle" (unless something unrelated is going on - recording, watching a recorded program, etc...).

I did update to the latest pre-release today with no change in observed behavior of the status interface.

What should I be seeing as the DVR status during this time?

Not a bug, this is operating as intended. I asked the same question awhile back and agree it can be a little confusing to a new user. Here is that thread:

"Activity" reporting when Tuner Sharing is off

Note that if you turn on “Tuner Sharing” on the clients, then the CDVR server gets involved, and the channel that’s tuned in, is reflected in CDVR’s “status” display.

Interesting, except I haven't changed any settings, including "Tuner sharing" for any of my clients yet it was "working" on Saturday but now it isn't...

Hmm. OK, just to be clear, do you currently have Tuner Sharing enabled, or not?

Until you mentioned it out, I never had come across that setting. Finally found it buried in the Advanced Settings for each client device. It was not turned on for any client.

I just turned it on for the client I'm sitting in front of, stopped and re-started the DVR, and the status is now showing. I'll have to try it out for awhile to see if anything is impacted adversely.

Thanks for pointing me in this direction!

If watching a TVE or Custom M3U channel from a client, it always uses tuner sharing since the stream has to come from the DVR. The Client tuner sharing setting only affects HDHR source channels.
And if using the web UI player as a Client, it always uses tuner sharing, no matter what the source.
There are other settings on the Client that would cause tuner sharing to be used.

It will take longer to tune into a hdhr channel. The default is off because that is what gives the best performance. Like anything it has its advantages and disadvantages.
