Can a source be hidden from clients?

I am wondering if there is a way to have a source that is setup on the server NOT be shown to the clients.

I believe source selection is only available for Apple clients at this time:

On tvOS I can disable sources, but they’re still technically active on the Server, and advertised as available to all other clients. Maybe I’m missing something though. I end up having to disable each channel on the server manually, which is quite the chore.

I also think this request might be similar, at least in intent, to this one, and others like it over the years:

Can we put sources on hold?

I would like to put a source on hold without destroying it, similar to how passes are handled. EDIT: To clarify this is about disabling recording by the DVR, not viewing by the clients.
