Can I mix grace note id and xml epg in same M3U?

If I have a single M3U with 500 channels. 400 have a valid grace note id and the tvc-guide-stationid value is set on those. 100 do not have that value would need to map to an xml epg file. How can I accomplish this?

Just leave the tvc-guide-stationid out, and make sure the value of the channel-id tag matches the value of the id attribute in the channel and programme elements of your XMLTV.

Thanks. Perfect!

Another trick I used was create a second custom source (for the same M3U). On the main priority one, I used the guide data from the XML and hid every channel that I needed Gracenote for. One the second source, I hid all the channels from the first Custom Source, then set the Gracenote for those unhidden in source2.

Works fine for the way my system is setup.

Playlist Manager for Channels (a Streaming Library Manger extension), will automatically split apart Gracenote and Non-Gracenote stations and XML Guide data, as well as give you a one-click button to add the resulting playlists (including guide data) to Channels. And while you can upload your m3u and XML files to PLM, you could also use Streaming Stations to set up and manage your base m3u in the first place. Easy peasy and no worries about mixing and managing inside playlists and guide files!

Hey would this solution work with an M3U list that changes channel numbers? As example, my list occasionally changes ch num 1000-1020 depending on the event occurring. And sometimes that change pushes other “static” channels numbers.

Yes, because PLM manages station number at the parent level. A child station updating its station number is a non-factor.

Also, since you have a regularly updating m3u, you can also use the built-in automation to refresh m3u's in Channels up to hourly:

This is in conjunction with PLM/MTM also being able to update stations and guide data on an up to hourly basis, too.

Yep. This is what I use to handle Pluto playlists as most of those don't map to Gracenote and there's plenty of channels on there that has pretty good Gracenote epg.

tnx -- and will it automatically pull in new channels when they popup? again, using the Events example (such as PPV events)-- that changes daily

All your questions are answered in the previously linked, extremely detailed Wiki with full screen caps and videos. It would be faster to go through some of that and give a test install than for me to go through these questions one-by-one. No harm in just trying it out yourself, right?

Yea I have your program installed. Just didn’t quite understand how it’d work with a dynamic playlist. Sorry to ask two questions.

Peace, brother, I'm not trying to be mean or dismissive; I've just spent hundreds of hours (for free) writing, recording, and editing material that answers these questions better than a basic "Yes" post would, which I feel would be a far worse response.

I do follow all your work- it’s great stuff you’ve done for the community and I thank you. I honestly just didn’t quite follow how your software worked with dynamic playlists. I’ll try and follow the instructions as it relates to this.
