When channels doesn’t get used after a couple of hours DVR disappears. Running the server on a Mac Mini 2012. Using 5 Apple TV’s 4th gen. I have to shutdown the app and then reboot the ATV to get it to show up.
I’m seeing this as well on v2.1.6.
Only fix I’ve found is Apple TV restart (just killing and restarting Channels doesn’t fix it).
Do you have the energy saver settings so your Mac doesn’t go to sleep?
Yes.
I should add that this problem just started with v2.1.6. The Channels alpha versions I tested prior did not have this problem.
Do you see anything in the server logs? I have a very similar setup 2012 Mac Mini, 5 4th gen AppleTVs running v2.1.6 and have not seen this problem.
Can confirm this is happening to me also today, on both the App Store and the TestFlight apps. Need to restart the ATV to bring it back. Happening on all my ATVs. For example, just finished watching the evening news, watching while recording in progress, and after deleting the episode the app reverted back to non-DVR functionality.
Running DVR on Linux (Ubuntu) current release. The server is running fine, seems to be some app glitch.
Super strange, since an ATV reboot should almost never be required. Usually quitting and restarting the app is more than enough. Even leaving the app and coming back triggers a new DVR search.
I know, but killing the app doesn’t do it. Only a full restart of the ATV.
That is what I am seeing also. Like I said restarting the App does nothing. Have to also reboot ATV.
I too noticed this morning after watching a recorded Conan episode that my DVR functionality was no long available on the ATV Channels app.
I’m having the same issue. Sometime’s killing and restarting the app works, but most of the time I have to restart the Apple TV.
@tmm1 stated this has been solved with the App Store Version 2.1.7. I can confirm I have not seen it since installing this release. I discussed this on another post.
This issue should have been fixed in 2.1.7. Please make sure you are up to date and let us know if it is still happening.
Just wanted to report that I am still seeing this issue in v2.1.7. I mostly notice the problem when bringing the ATV out of sleep mode. Killing Channels app doesn’t fix it, must reboot ATV.
I’m still seeing this issue in v2.1.11. Is this still a known issue? Anyone else still having this problem?
To clarify the problem…most times when I wake my Apple TV from sleep, the DVR menus are missing from Channels. Killing and relaunching Channels does not fix it. Only fix is to restart ATV. Same issue on latest Channels Beta.
Is the IP address of your DVR server changing?
No, IP is manually specified and has not been changed. FWIW, the same machine runs Plex Media Server and the Plex app on ATV never has any issues finding the PMS. As stated above, this issue just started in v2.1.6, and nothing has changed WRT the server side config.
This happened to me today too. Leaving and coming back to the app didn’t help. Killing the app and restarting didn’t help. I did not try to reboot the ATV.
With the app running, I unchecked bonjour on the DVR Settings and rechecked it. The DVR tabs showed up right away.
Can confirm this has also happened to me yesterday. Killing and restarting the app didn’t help, rebooting the Apple TV fixed it. This is running on a Synology DS-916+, with a reserved DHCP address that hasn’t changed.
One thing I remember was installing a DVR update - I watched TV the night before, then yesterday installed a DVR update, then yesterday evening had the problem…
This issue has been fixed in the upcoming 2017.01.25.0359 release.
