CC4C Failure

Well, after years, CC4C isn't working. It loads an "about" tab in Chrome and then times out. I have deleted and reinstalled but no joy. Anyone have gotten past this? Yes, it appears Chrome updated while I was out of the country. Any suggestions appreciated. I have gone to ADBTuner for most of what I was using CC4C. But I like CC4C for the speed and ability to stream weather and other internet based things.

Thanks.

I ran into this same issue and here’s what I did. I uninstalled chrome. I completely deleted my chrome capture for windows install. I found chrome version 135 and installed that. I went into services.msc and found the 2 google update processes, right clicked and went to properties, then changed automatic to disabled and applied that. I then reinstalled chrome capture for windows. I use the node option as I customize my main.js file. After doing all these steps, it’s working like normal for me again.

Thanks. Going to head down that road. Can you share where you found Chrome V 135?

I got it from a site called uptodown. I researched them and it seems pretty secure and reputable. I scanned the file too and everything seems clean.

Here’s the link to the version I downloaded:

Thanks for your help! All is back to normal. I hope I have stopeed automatic updates on Chrome....but at some point I am sure YTTV will not play on the old versions. Just have to wait and see...

Thanks again.

Quite welcome and glad to hear it!

You should maybe consider switching over to the ADBTuner setup/method to get your YTTV channels. I ended up switching to that method to get a lot of my channels that no longer work through TVE from Philo and RCN Astound (cable). Definitely a lot smoother and more reliable than CC4C and pretty easy to set up. I only use CC4C now for Weatherscan and live web cams.

Yes, I have ADBTuner. The wife likes the speed of tuning with CC4C. So, I have custom guides using both. Of course the problem with both is stereo audio. But most of what is watched is old sitcoms and news/weather.

So not sure what streaming device you’re using with ADBTuner but I have the ONN pucks from Walmart and you can simply take the remote and hit volume up, and it will jack up the volume output of the device. Also, not sure what encoder box you have but I’ve got a LinkPi and when I login to the settings for it, there are options to adjust the audio output levels. Both of these options helped me make the sound better coming from ADBTuner.

Zero to 25 volume can be set via adb

adb shell cmd media_session volume --set 10

So I've run into the issue also. My CC4C stopped working, however, I can't get it working following the above. I tried Chrome version 135 and it won't connect like the current version 139 I had. Not sure why this works for others. I am disabling the Chrome updates. I then tried version 118 that I installed originally and that works for CC4C and I can load things like the Windy website no problem. However, it appears 118 no longer supports DRM used by Spectrum (as far as I can tell). I could find online it appears earlier than 117 will not work with DRM (so 118 should? - but perhaps it was also recently deprecated, idk). Anyone else run into this? It seems as if I have to find a Chrome version between 118 and 135 that connects with Chrome capture for channels and also still works with latest DRM. I'm just running the CC4C exe file on Windows 10 for my CC4C box. Thanks for the posts on this topic so far and thanks for any additional advice.

PS I was going to work on setting an ADB-like tuner for Apple TVs quite some time ago and also set up my capture cards. Just never got around to it and have been living with the CC4C. Did anyone every create a fork ADBtuner for Apple TV as was mentioned some time ago, I think @bnhf ?

There's a build of ah4c that includes pyatv, which several people are using successfully with ATVs. Search the ah4c thread for additional details...
