What's the difference between the two variations of the channels app in the Apple store? I signed up for the $8/month subscription with the Windows based DVR program, but then went to download the Channels for HDHomerun on my Apple TV appliance, and it wanted to charge me $24.99 for the app, but not for the regular Channels DVR app. I don't understand the differences?
The free Channels DVR app requires the DVR server & subscription, which it sounds like you have. The Channels for HDHomerun app functions as a standalone viewer for a HDHomerun tuner, no server or subscription required (though it will function with the server if you have one).
The paid app is for non-subscribers who just want to watch Live TV without DVR.
If you're subscribed to the DVR use the free app.
Okay, thank you for the prompt answers, that does help clarify. Unfortunately, I accidentally paid for the standalone app, in addition to the Server based subscription. Oops. Next question, can Channels make use of the plug in USB SSD drive I connected to the HDHomerun Flex 4k appliance? Otherwise, it's pretty much going to waste. I guess I could move it to the PC that is running the Channels Server....
