Channels DVR disappears from IOS and ATV apps

I have been running my channels DVR on my QNAP NAS, in the last couple days I have seen an issue where my apple TV and/or my IOS devices will show the DVR options for a second or two then they disappear, or they show the DVR pages but it says there are no recordings. Sometimes stopping and restarting the bonjour service inside the channels app on the QNAP solves the issue. Any thoughts on what I should be looking for here??

Check the Log tab of your DVR’s web UI to see if any errors are shown there.

I’ve been seeing something similar on my iPad. I’ll open the Channels app and no DVR appears. I close it and immediately reopen it and the DVR is there. Been happening for a couple weeks now.

No errors shown, the other piece that’s odd is I only get 4 hours worth of program guide data. Currently on my iPad I can only see till 11pm in the guide data then then it just goes all black.

I am trying a reinstall on my QNAP to rule out any problems with the NAS.

Well its time for me to eat crow it seems after many uninstalls, reboots, etc, I found the problem and its dumb. As I have mentioned in previous posts, I was using an older MBP as my Channels DVR as a test. Once we figured out we love this app, I bought a new QNAP NAS and installed it there. Here is the problem, I thought I had fully uninstalled the channels DVR app from the MBP, it seems I did not. So it got booted up the other day for something else and the service started and it was also advertising its dvr service… like I said dumb. I finally figured it out reading a different post about looking for what bonjour services are running on your network and saw both dvr’s advertising. Duh. So the lesson here is if your switching your DVR hardware, be really sure you uninstall it fully from the old one.

Me, every time i spin up Channels DVR on another platform and forget to turn off Bonjour advertising.

If you want to keep it on multiple computers just to test performance, you can, just be sure to turn off bonjour, or it’ll be a mess. Glad you got it figured out!!
