I’m loving the DVR. It’s running without any major hiccups on four ATV 4’s (considering it’s in beta). The SAF (spousal acceptance factor) is getting a positive reaction. That being said, I saw that recordings have a certain file naming structure and are .mpg (2) types.
So grabbing some previous recordings by Plex I figured that if I convert the Plex .ts file to a .mpg (2) and making sure that video and audio codecs are set I should be good to go and Channels DVR would recognize. No luck.
Is there a hidden or background item I’m missing? I’ve restarted DVR, rebooted Apple TV 4 and rebooted MacMini.
Is this impossible? Will it be a future doable item?

You cannot import video into Channels DVR. Channels DVR maintains it’s own metadata about the files it has recorded and there is no way to “scan” in new files like you can with Plex.
