I’m experiencing an anomaly with ChannelsDVR that’s driving me nuts. I have two tv sources feeding my ChannelsDVR server: (1) HDHomeRun Extend with an external OTA digital antenna, and (2) HDHomeRun Prime and cable card from Verizon FiOS. If a broadcast is local the program appears twice in the Guide (once under the OTA channel and once under the FiOS channel) e.g. Fox is channel 53.1 OTA and channel 507 through Verizon. But when I set a program to record the OTA channel such as 53.1 ChannelsDVR automatically substitutes channel 507. This has sometimes resulted in a different game or feed being recorded than what was requested, not to mention that the clarity of the OTA digital video is noticeably better than the Verizon feed.
I have checked that the HDHRExtend is listed as a source above the HDHR Prime, selected the channels on the Extend as favorites, etc. but the recording schedule always defaults to the HDHR Prime channels.
How do I get ChannelsDVR to record the exact source, typically the OTA channel, that I have selected in the Guide?
How are you selecting the program to record, and from what device?
Or is it from a pass?
Also, your device priority on a client is separate from the device priority on the server, which is used when recording from a pass.
I have multiple ota hdhr. I disable the dupe channels from on the hdhrs I dont want to record a particular channel.
ie: disable the cable channel from the prime and you will always get the higher quality ota channel.
If both channels are favorites, it will select the higher channel number, regardless of tuner preference.
Thank you both for the speedy reply.
Question: when you say that it will “select the higher channel number” what specifically did you mean by “higher”?
Did you mean the larger channel number i.e. channel 507, or did you mean the first to occur in the Guide as we are scrolling down i.e. channel 53.1?
If the show starts at the same time and airs on multiple Channels ... first it will look for the favored Channels if none are favored, it will record on the highest numbered Channel.
Yes, the larger number. 507 > 53
