I disabled both "updaters" in this location C:\Program Files (x86)\Google (look in folders etc)
Also disabled all google update services in "services" applet
After all the above Chrome finally stopped updating and is "stuck" at ver 135 and survives a reboot
my chrome browser also updated and now won't open. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled version 135 and all it does is close immediately upon opening. I tried even older versions and they also crash immediately until I get to versions like 123 and it stays open. However, when I open YouTube TV web it tells me to update my browser with an error trying to play LiveTV
I fixed my issue. I had to uninstall Chrome, then delete my Chrome cache folder, then reinstall Chrome v135, then delete my CC4C folder, then reinstall CC4C (Node advanced method) and then replace my saved main.js file and log in to YouTube and NBC again.
I didn't need to delete my CC4C folder I just force stopped it from task manager It was the Chrome auto updating that was annoying BUT glad its back and running
I think somehow my cache profile for Chrome was not compatible with the older version 135 or even any version 130 or newer. The Chrome browser would simply not open at all with CC4C until I removed the entire cache folder from Chrome.
Sometimes a bit of maintenance on that front goes a long way. I use Bleachbit for stuff like that. Sometimes the cache/cookies messes things up with these things
If capturing a YTTV live channel from the website, is there a way to capture the closed captions signal also? I dont want to see the CC on screen with the stream, but I do want to be able to turn it on or off as normal while viewing the recording from ChannelsDVR.
or, does ChannelsDVR have the ability to add/create CC to a recorded show later?
So what's the best way to make this worn in Intel CPUs these days. How can I make sure Google Chrome plays nice with it?
I really want to create something that will allow us to use something like justwatch to pull database of Tubi / hulu / Netflix / Prime / Peacock / Paramount etc and pull the movies and allow us to use chrome capture to record the movie (with adblocking) - Prime doesnt allow it. It would be a bit more coding though
Also, is there a plan to get this to work on other versions of chromium, or firefox? I assume using an old chrome build will eventually lead to videos breaking over time.
You mean Stream Link/File Manager (SLM) for Channels?
The Chrome Capture protocol only works for linear stations, not for on-demand portions of Channels. It does work in VLC, though, which means it is something the Devs would have to change to get it to work:
Still, using Chrome Capture for this purpose seems like overkill. You'd be better off just using a standard screen capture program (no loss on the transfer). So basically, it would be like this:
- Use SLM for getting Stream Links
- Automate launching the Stream Link in a new browser window (one that has already been logged in, etc...) and going to full screen
- Automate starting the screen recording session and running a check every second to see if it is still playing, otherwise stop the recording
- Automate naming the file and moving into an imports locations
- Maybe automate running a refresh in Channels (SLM already has this, too)
- Automate queue'ing the jobs so only one is recording at a time
That all said, PlayOn and the like can do all this and a lot more better, so I'm not sure it's worth the effort. But again, if you don't want to bother with local storage, SLM already has you covered to get all of this content seamlessly into Channels anyway.
I agree but it would be cool to have it all in one, besides sometimes you want to keep the movie others you dont. would be nice to be able to click to record as one option or watch as another.
I find PlayOn and Streamfab and yt-dlp (for non-DRM stuff) as viable options for stuff like that. Using CC4C for this is a waste
Its very expensive - gate keeping and not sure if it allows firefox for ad removal like hulu and tubi
PlayOn do mark ads and you can skip them in Channels (or use other software to remove them). Streamfab and ytdlp also removes ads.
Could SLM work with firefox? I installed the apk on my android device to remove ads. Could SLM route links to hulu or tubi so I can watch ad free on my firefox apk?
SLM works with firefox. You can set firefox up to display desktop versions of sites and don't try to install any of their apps and you should be fine.
Does 136-138 chrome not work and is there any plans to use Firefox?
I ask as several functions of chrome have been deprecated
i had to go back to ver 135
That doesn't sound good for the future of this addon.
well im using it on a dedicated pc so i never use chrome for anything other than CC4C it still works with ver 114 if im not mistaken
