I have a disability and i use closed captions all the time.
Recently something changed. None of my ios or apple tv recordings or live broadcasts display anything but gibbering.
Please help.
What device and version of the app ?

Heres the details for after the holidays! Narrowed it down a bit..
apple Tv 4k (2nd gen) with TVOS16.2. (which BTW is riddled with bugs its terrible)
Also Ipad with IPADOS 16.2 (also riddled with bugs its terrible)
Iphone x with 16.2. (Riddled with bugs its terrible - apple should be ashamed)
Ive looked into the cc issue further..
This is an intermittent problem
On hdhomerun cc works fine for live channels
live channels appear to be working fine on channels app edit:and then drop cc when changing channels. Its very random
Its happening on certain TVE channels, not all of them.
I discovered this watching a recording of yellowstone. Got weird characters and no captions.
I went to Paramount network and their live streams have gibberish closed captions. Then I tried a few other networks.
TNT trashed
FX hosed
AMC,History, Discovery all working like a champ
Then i went back to the Yellowstone recording and captions started to work again. Jumped out of that to test the recording of 1923 and that had weird characters and no captions. The went i went back to yellowstone the captions disappeared again. Weird stuff.
Ive only noticed this the past few days that i recall.
@tmm1 on ATV I found that my problem with CC on TVE is present starting with 12.17.2204 I rolled back to 12.6.649 and the problem goes away. I tested with a movie recorded from TCM. with 12.17.2204 I get a line of gibberish and then nothing else displays. I roll back to 12.6.649 and it works perfect
That would make sense based on my observations of about when it started. This is very helpful thank you

If you roll back in test flight to that build you can restore CC while Aman sorts it out

Confirmed rolling back works…
We’ll try to get a new build out to resolve this while we track down the underlying issue.
The latest Testflight beta for iOS/tvOS will fix the CC issue. We're looking into the underlying problem. Thanks everyone for the reports.
