Some items on https://iptv-org.github.io/iptv/index.m3u are TS streams. Could the DVR server just play them, instead of complaining to the user about this unimportant fact?
99% entries are M3Us, 1% TS streams. There is no solution as long as the DVR requires them to be separated
If you use Playlist Manager, you can just put the m3u in there twice, one as HLS and the other as MPEG-TS. Then, set the Parent Station
to "Ignore" for the TS stations in the HLS one and the HLS stations in the TS ones. Playlist Manager will then parse them out to compatible m3u's that can be consumed by Channels.
Even though they are the "same" source m3u, Playlist Manager will treat them as unique with a combination of its own internal numbering and the channel-id
field (or a suitable replacement if one doesn't exist) combined.
I think OP’s request, is that since CDVR is obviously intelligent enough to accurately detect that the particular channel is streaming not via HLS, but rather via MPEG-TS, that it should just adjust accordingly and play the stream regardless. I’m sure there are various good reasons the developers implemented the Custom Channels feature this way though.
That being said, I was typing up a recommendation for Playlist Manager to hopefully help in this situation, before being distracted, only to return to see that @babsonnexus has already explained a very clever workaround
I agree with this.
By the time the DVR finds out that the stream is not the kind that was specified, it is too far along in the processing to be able to adapt to the wrong content type.
