EPG Help Please

Hi - There is a channel I have as a custom channel and it comes from Channel 33.4 | KVVB.TV. It’s a broadcast version of The Heartland Network. The only guide I can get to come up is their guide that is appears to be the web feed from watchheartlandtv.com….I can’t seem to get the broadcast guide. I have tried using the guide from other affiliates, but they all seem to give me the same web feed guide of shows…which is different…particularly Crook and Chase, Celebrity Kitchen, Country Standard Time and Music City Tonight appear to be on the broadcast feed only….so my guide doesn’t match up…..Does anyone else use this kvvb channel? If so, how do you get the correct guide? Any help, as always is much appreciated. Thanks

Try over riding the channel using the call sign HEARTHD
Gracenote station ID 78584

It matches their webfeed schedule here Schedules — The Heartland Network

Haven't found any that match their broadcast schedule listed there.

Yeah the broadcast epg is what I am needing because there are shows that are airing on the broadcast feed that they don’t air on the web feed…I can’t figure out how to get the broadcast epg. There are lots of affiliates across the country and I tried using some of those, but they all pull in the web feed schedule…..Hmmm…

Yah, appears that Gracenote is using the web feed schedule epg for the OTA affiliates instead of the OTA broadcast feed. It also appears that gracenote doesn't have listings for lots of the affiliate stations, including the one you're streaming from at KVVB Channel 33.4 in Victorville, CA.

I did some searching and was unable to find an accurate gracenote station ID or call sign for the OTA broadcast schedule epg.

I think I found a workaround for people who want to find the data themselves:

1. go to TV Listings- Find Local TV Listings and Watch Full Episodes
2. Open dev tools in the browser. Go to network tab and look for the response.
3. select the "Change Provider" button. Put in your zip code and select Antenna tab, then Local OTA Broadcast.
4. In the network inspector's response section you will see an entry that looks like this:
   grid?lineupId=USA-lineupId-DEFAULT&timespan=2&headendId=lineupId&country=USA&timezone......
   Click on it.
5. Look at the response tab for that entry. It should be in JSON format. You can search that file for any channels you are looking for. If you search for Heartland and it is in your lineup you should be able to find it. For that JSON entry it will have an entry for "channelId": The number to the right of it is your local OTA's Gracenote ID for that channel.

Does that return different results than simply right clicking the channel logo in the guide and opening it in a different browser tab and looking at the url for the logo? The Gracenote id will be the only number in the url.

Or use your DVR to see the OTA channels in a zip code lineup

I didn't try that. Looking at that it should return the same thing much easier your way.

One of the tools I use to get the zip code for a station tower is
lookup the callsign https://www.rabbitears.info/csq.php

click on the Facility ID

click on the Latitude or Longitude link

click on the Google Maps Satellite link

If it doesn't show the zip code at the tower, pick a place close to it and get the zip code

To see the radiated pattern of the tower antenna on an interactive map,
click on the Longley-Rice Coverage Map link

I normally just do a quick search for the station call sign

I tried all sorts of variations, kvvb, kvvbdt, kvvb-dt, kvvbld, kvvb-ld and none worked.
Trying another one of their affiliates, KPNZ shows HEARTHD 78584, but that's the web streaming epg

So it appears that gracenote doesn't have an EPG listing for their OTA broadcast schedule.
