So I have this working and it is great. It got me thinking about what else I could do though which is my lot in life. One other program i use alot is Plex (not live tv just the libraries). I have access to a server with a wide variety of shows and movies. I used the above methodology and got Plex added at channel 9000. Works great and opens the app.
The question is what more can I do with the Plex. Nothing shows up in the guide because it isnt live TV. I would love for it to show, for instance, the titles in my Continue Watching section and then open those on the app. Do you think that is possible? If so how? Thanks.
Might be a little late here, but
On the beta version CNBC ( and other nbc family) when selected on channels web version (mini pc windows) it correctly opened peacock app and to cnbc channel.
Using the Norma Appletv app (not beta) cnbc section opens Hulu? And within Hulu it has cnbc but it’s empty .(we have Hulu but not livetv version…..

Magnolia Network is now on YouTube TV as part of the standard package starting 6/1. I tried linking YouTube TV as the provider on the Discovery site to check for TVE availability, but doesn't seem to have TVE for YouTube TV - at least not yet. Wanted to let people know since this seems to be a popular network and would be great for Stream Linking from the Guide.
Thanks for mentioning that, would have taken me awhile to discover it otherwise since Channels is my front-end. It struck me to mention, if it's not available for you via TVE, and you want to experiment differently with another avenue to bring in such content to CDVR via other apps such as YouTube TV (i.e. BBC News, MTV Classics, Smithsonian Channel, and more) then I'd encourage anyone here to check out another experiment brewing... it works via IPTV hardware and another streaming box or dongle. Sounds convoluted, I know... but it works.

Update,
iPad app(not the beta) works perfect
Click in cnbc and it opens NbC app right to cnbc and plays.
On Appletv (not beta) still opens Hulu app.
Perhaps same update for iPad for Appletv app would make this work same? Or am I doing something wrong?

Since this works (open cnbc channel, opens nbc app …on iPad) while making sure I had nbc app on Apple TV there was a host of nbc locals (LAX SFO etc)… which means there are a host of other “applet tv apps to watch locals, not just nbc”
How could we incorporate all this into channels ?
Perhaps separate it (ask would be for thick border on grid) to maybe say locals from 1 to 500… hen 1000 and above is all other stuff (TVE Pluto stir custom channels, stream links)

You can technically use streamlinks to open any app on the ATV client.
I added a channel in my guide to open Netflix so I could access it right from inside channels. You just need to know the correct streamlink, for Netflix it is Nflx://

How did you find the different channels for Cinemax? On Spectrum app, I couldn't get it to go to the different channels, only the main one.
Not sure how you would do it with the Spectrum App. With Hulu you just click the channel logos and look at the url.

You use the developer tools to find most of the channels. Cinemax was a little different because it was part of a "group" with the other Cinemax channels. I never figured out how to set them apart. Same with the Music Choice channels...
If I have a mix of Apple TV and Android TV, would I need a separate (duplicate) guide entry for each platform? Like 1 MSNBC listing for Android TV and a duplicate one for Apple?
I have both Apple-TV and Shield TV, only one guide works for me.

This is what I use for Bally Sports South and Southeast. I don’t know the station ids I just manually matched the guide data. This Streamlink just opens the app to the main section where you can select the live stream you want.

Edit: Also for some reason the Beta app works great on an IPAD but on the Apple TV when it redirects to the app, I get sound only. No video
