Sure- I’ll look into it.
looks like she dead again (at least the EPG data). I'll continue to leave in the project for now, but she's on her last leg.
I noticed it started failing a couple days ago.
Stream audit on the channels looks good and they still stream.
Yea surprised the endpoint for the channel list still works.
Btw- I am close on Vidaa 2.0 btw. I figured out their new architecture. Channel list is different thou. I’ll be testing over next week then I’ll release it.
Given my setup:

When a recording is in progress, is the stream received by FastChannels or does it go straight to Channels? I think this is the latter and FastChannels acts just like Chromecast used to do by providing the URL straight to the client.
Just wondering because when I get interrupted recordings sometimes, I don't know if it could be because of the wireless connection to the PC.
I know some sources are proxied by FastChannels. Not sure which ones.
I found out when I updated FastChannels with CDVR recordings in process that got interrupted.
- STIRR - Always proxied
- Distro - Most proxy
- Samsung - At least the master playlist is Proxy - variants go direct. Basically, stream starts proxy, then flips to direct after.
- Custom - all
- DRM-Bridge channels (PrismCast)- proxied
Caveat - all in-browser preview are proxied.
Is Pluto TV considered custom?
nope - plain 302 straight to Pluto's stitcher CDN. The main play() route has no Pluto special-case, so no Pluto stream traffic touches FastChannels at all.
basically, if CDVR requests a stream from Pluto (or most sources), it hits my play "proxy" that queries the DB and then sends back to CDVR the direct HLS link. So, once it's playing, FastChannels is out of the equation completly.
I just ran across this and deployed it (mainly to get my plex live tv channels recorded).. I have a couple questions:
For plex, do I need to set a region for it to find some of my french channels?
For plex, do I set my own plex token somewhere? or do the streams just.. work?!?!
welcome
-
Plex is geo-locked via your IP to only show streams available for your home region. So, not much I can do for you there.
-
It just works! No config required for Plex.
Oh!! of course, that's an ez fix, I'll just fire up an exit node at my place here in France and point my container's tailscale at it.
Thanks for your hard work, this project is amazing!
FastChannels 4.9.0 — What's New
New source: C-SPAN
- Dedicated scraper for the C-SPAN networks — C-SPAN 1, 2, and 3, plus the House & Senate floor feeds, Washington Journal, and live congressional/committee events.
- No login or config — just enable it and scrape.
New source: Philo (premium)
- Adds your Philo lineup via the PrismCast DRM bridge (same model as the other premium/DRM sources).
- Passwordless sign-in: enter your email, drop in the code Philo texts/emails you, done.
- Ships disabled by default — enable and sign in when you're ready.
Vidaa upgraded to 2.0
- Vidaa now runs on the new signed Hisense Channels backend. The old 1.0 backend (and its grid EPG) was effectively dead, so this is a straight upgrade — but it's a completely different lineup (lots of new US FAST channels, some old international/A&E/sports channels go away).
- Because it's a new backend, your existing Vidaa channels are from the old lineup and will slowly die off on their own. Rather than wait for that, the clean way to migrate:
a. Turn Vidaa off — this bulk-deletes all its channels.
b. Turn it back on and scrape — pulls the fresh 2.0 lineup cleanly.- This avoids the slow aging-out and any duplicate churn in the meantime.
- Heads up: a good chunk of the 2.0 lineup overlaps channels you likely already have from other FAST sources.
Fixes & hardening
- Security/robustness fixes to the streaming proxy, premium-source auditing, and EPG episode-number handling. Nothing you need to do.
Upgrading
git pull
docker compose build && docker compose up -d
Not having a lot of luck with C-SPAN. The House and Senate channels play what appears to be a loop in the browser but don't play at all on my TV (via Channels). The other three don't seem to work at all.
Yea it kinda sucks. Their site only plays live stream randomly throughout the day. I thought about scrapping it but 60% of the time, it works every time. Figured it’s a fun scraper if you’re into that stuff.
Too bad. We'll see if anything good happens when the House and/or Senate are actually in session.
Does anything good happen while they are in session?
Jk it did stream live during the day today.
Thanks for the update.
Looks like it's fetching 5 days of guide data too.
From a cultural standpoint, rarely if ever.
