I did much the same when I lived on the side of a hill ... The only downside was I'd have to repair the antenna line periodically, when little rodenty critters chewed it through. Must have been a thrill for them when they discovered it carried 25 V. to power the head end amplifier ....

Speaking of critters, I have my HDHR’s above in the rafters of the basement right where the exterior coax enters the house (server is on the other side of the basement and so they are connected with an Ethernet run). Judging by the number of snake skin sheds I pulled off last time I power cycled the units (they likely enjoy the warmth), my system has its own rodent control measures.
