I used the 2 minute sample you posted to replace a 2 minute recording I made with Channels DVR and Feral HTPC plays it without any issues.
Recorded my Fox News for 2 minutes, CDVR recorded to the file
FOX 40 News at 6pm 2012-01-23 2026-04-07-1853.mpg
Downloaded your samplemedia.ts file and renamed it to
FOX 40 News at 6pm 2012-01-23 2026-04-07-1853.mpg
Then moved it to my CDVR recording directory, overwriting the recorded file.
Did a refresh metadata on the recording in CDVR.
Played the recording in Feral HTPC. Played fine.
The issue here is that "Recently Added" is rather useless, but that is the default sort in the Channels app so that's what Bobby's got in there now as "Newest Added". "Recently Updated" is the one you want, and I agree. Feature request.

The program scaling option helps significantly!
The Simplified guide mode does make for a tad more compact style now.
However, getting nitpicky now, you are using 1 line cell and the ep name after the tile, they often get cut off.
It nice for slimness overall.
I actually like this slimmer style view and would like to keep it. (and it is pretty much what the Guide on the CDVR client apps look like, minus the addition of the episode title after the Show name)
Having 2 Guide View options like that, indeed are unique style to your program.
Again, nitpicky of me, but a 3rd Guide View option that mirrors CDVR web UI style exactly suggestion.
CDVR Web UI still has 2 line cells, with the ep name on the 2nd line, smaller font.
That is much easier to people like my mother to look at and read.
Like, you have in normal mode, just replace the Description text with the Episode Title (not having it show on first line with show title) and a tad more slim over all that CDVR has their cells.
Again, just a nitpicky suggestion...do not mean to sound ungrateful or overwhelm you with endless feature requests.
On other topic...i see posts of audio issues?
I can report that i have had no such issues playing OTA or TVE/M3U channels. With either the Force ACC on or off.
May be something unique to that users specific sources that giving them issues.

But in all cases it played the Video and Audio fine as far as I could tell.

you really didnt have to do all that monkeying around with the recordings. just rename it to .mpg and stick it in the movie or tv show path that CDVR uses and rescan.
Ffmpeg transcoding on isnt useful. The issue occurs with ffmpeg transcoding is off.
AAC transcoding on or off has no visible or auditory effect on my system.
