Filtering by show length

Quite often when we want to watch a film we know we only have a maximum of say 100mins for example.

It would be great to be able to filter recordings by length so that when searching for something to watch you aren’t looking at a load of films that are 3 hours long when you know that isn’t an option.

Same applies for TV shows but is perhaps less of a significant one.

You can do this with Collections by using a Smart Rule limiting movies by runtime. It will stay in your library and be updated as you add content.

You can even get fancier by using a rule to ensure it only shows unwatched movies or movies within a specific genre or time span.

Hmmm, we don’t have runtime as a rule option, we can only sort by duration.

I’ll look into what it will take to add duration as a rule as that’s more powerful than just sorting by duration.

You can do this now using the Advanced rule editor by using this format:

Duration < 7200

The value is in seconds.

The latest pre-release has added the ability to use Duration in the simple Smart Rules editor.

I do this already and love it, but..........

Plenty of Streamlinks give zero, negative, or complete nonsense lengths. A few personal media files do this, too. That's why we need the ability to edit the length metadata, at the very least for Streamlinks.

Good feedback on Streamlinks. We might be able to overwrite it based on metadata since we can't actually fetch the real duration, as we do now from the file.
