Ya it is back to normal for now. Transcoding.... never!
Yeah, the pixelation comes in goes, might be defendant on the show, should we be submitting more logs or has an issue been identified from the current logs @tmm1?
Has anyone tried Fox News as a Fox One Linear channel using EPlusTV
Does it have the same pixelation/macro blocking
EPlusTV does NOT have the same issue. It's been a while since I used that and didn't realize linear channels had been added for these, good to know!
Still going on with TVE, I guess I should move to EPlusTV for Fox channels? Some sort of acknowledgment of the issue and further troubleshooting steps would be great.
Tuned in just now to check and I saw it too.
Doesn't happen on the feed from EPlusTV or the one from PrismCast.
Both of which are supposedly sourcing from fox.com where it doesn't happen either.
Where is the Channels DVR feed coming from?
Looks like from somebody's bad antenna signal.
Devs don't seem to care anymore or something. A lot of no replies to issues...
In this case it might be out of their hands.
Garbage in garbage out
communicating with their paying customers is in their hands.
Can the TVE source be changed then? I'm using the same login info for EPlusTV and have noticed it has commercials rather than the "commercial break" message and is also ~30 sec ahead of the stream that TVE is using.
It's also 1080/60 instead of 720/60...
I hope this isn't some sort of political stance by the devs. I took the "garbage in, garbage out" comment as in indication that the Fox News stream is the issue, but the web stream on foxnews.com doesn't exhibit any issues when watching in a chrome browser.
EPlusTV seems to be pulling from FOX One which is a fox.com address rather than foxnews.com for the live steam. Even if the TVE stream didn't have issues it would make sense to switch to this stream for the 1080p resolution and less delay.
For now it's either
- watch the stream from the source website fox.com or foxnews.com in a browser or app
or - Use EPlusTV or PrismCast to get the stream into Channels DVR
Yep, Fox One app on Apple "records" all the shows I want and with perfect quality. And now I can watch OTA via my 2 Homerun tuners via Plex. I just subscribed to them, saving 2 bucks as I cancelled Channels DVR. Thanks TMM1, you are right (well, maybe not), Garbage in, Garbage out, and youre OUT!
Didn't mean for this to turn political, hopefully @tmm1's comment was referring to issues with the stream that Channels doesn't handle well.
For now I recommend using EPlusTV for Fox stations, hopefully the devs will move to Fox.com (FOX One) as the source for TVE Fox broadcasts
I prefer not to discuss conspiracy theories, religion or politics here.
Hopefully most users feel the same way. Don't feed the trolls.
That's a well known, oft-used, phrase in Computer Science:
Ironically, that applies to Wikipedia too. Lincoln warned us about it. Found a way to inject a Fox stream into the Plex guide! real nice!!
