Getting Cable provider authentication failed with xfinity

Are you saying you reuse your old password on the Xfinity site? I didn't think that was possible.

Yes exactly... make sure user is a viewer only no account access.

Ah. Interesting. Thanks

I'm having the same issue. xfinity tv everywhere was working great and stopped working Monday night. I added a user account for myself and that login allows me to stream from the xfinity app but no luck with Channels. I tried the "upper case trick" but that didn't work for me.

Can you submit diagnostics and email support so we can take a closer look.

I tried again this morning and it's working. Maybe an issue on Xfinity's side.

Was anyone able to resolve this issue?

I'm having the same issue ; tried the CAPS trick ; tried CURL ; restarted the DVR ; rebooted the OSX box ; nothing worked. I'll send an email with the JPG of the login failure and my log data

I had trouble with authentication a few weeks back. I tried everything but found that logging into the Android Xfinity Stream app on my phone fixed something. When I logged in on the phone Xfinity Stream app it had a message that it was fixing something with my account status level and then logged in. After that I had no problems getting Channels DVR Server to authenticate all available channels for Xfinity.

I forgot my diagnostics ; that is: 223ce15b-d74b-41e7-9366-de8c69763b36

I'll try the "wait for 2 days" thing. But this nasty Xfinity stuff has been partially offset today by trying Locast. We get the major channels with our antenna but the sub-channels (that have some very nice content in our area) were useless. But now they are all good with Locast. So I'm trying that for $5 per month - worth a try anyway. (hopefully they won't lose their lawsuit this year)

But - maybe I'll try that Xfinity Stream App hint ; thanks!

Got the same thing with the Android Stream app - it reported some kind of error but then it worked - I was able to stream using that app.

But then I still got the failure in Channels when trying to add TVE - Xfinity as a source. So - I'll just do the 48 hour wait thing.

Maybe try clearing all browser data in chrome and try again?

Nope - that didn't work either. I give up for now and I will just wait the two days. I'm beginning to think that all the other things people have come up with have only worked because they waited the two days.

Having the same issue. Logs are efb9bab3-9c88-4ec1-a7b8-6d8de94113fe
Tried creating new user to log in. Waited 5 days. Forced updates too. I can manually log into xfinity no problem.

Can you go into your System Settings and check if "Set time automatically" is set? It looks like your local clock isn't synchronized properly. I'm not sure if that's impacting this situation, but it can often cause problems with authentication.

Same here. A couple of TVE channels that I've received for a long time now show: "not in subscription" when, in fact, those very same channels are in the basic cable package. For example, Discovery Life and REELZ are channels down in the SD group of channels (I think that's in or almost in the most basic Xfinity bundle). Via HD Home Run Prime access, I can watch both. Via TVE, I now get "not in subscription" on rescans.

A few notes to actually add something to this thread...
I also have the xfinity stream app on mobile devices and on very new TVs- a Samsung and a TCL. Historically, every channel I can get via Prime has pretty consistently been available in the stream app on mobile devices. On both the Samsung & TCL running xfinity stream as apps on those TVs, all but HD channels have been available for me.

Of late, I notice that in both apps for mobile and apps for the TVs, available channels (to which I subscribe) are coming & going depending on WHEN I open their app. A few days ago, I opened the app on the Samsung TV and there were NO channels available at all. In the mobile app version, there has been some times in the last few when only a small subset of channels are available. I suspect Comcast/Xfinity are doing something of bigger consequence than usual in terms of the system(s) that manages permissions. Since several of us are having very recent problems like mine, it appears it's not something tied to any one person's user name & password, or individual permissions. I suspect it's system-level changes/updates that are affecting us.

Last night, I attempted to access 2 (regional) Fox Sports TVE streams to which I've had long-term access, as I also get both of those cable channel versions in the Xfinity subscription. Both failed. Been here before with Comcast "reset password" adventures, so I opened the Fox Sports app and had a new kind of error message I had not seen before: something about not being able to tell that I'm in my local market (implying that it could not tell I'm at the same home where I've been with long-term previous access through their app). I believe it suggested I log out and log in to re-authenticate, so I did that and while their process was a "success!" going back to their live stream, home screen where I can usually pick an event to watch looped back to not knowing my geographic location again and showing me ZERO events in the background.

Perhaps some of you can check xfinitys dedicated mobile stream app and/or the xfinity stream app on applicable TVs if you have it. I bet you'll find that channels that should be there are not always there. And I bet the channel lineup in the app changes if you check several times each day.

And if you also have some dedicated channel apps like I do with that Fox Sports app, perhaps try using those to see if you can watch their stream that way. Especially if you know that some of those dedicated apps have worked before for channels with a TVE stream that is not working now, you may find- as I did- that whatever is going on seems to reach OUTSIDE of the Channels app.

Again, I suspect Xfinity is re-doing their permissioning system. Does it perhaps depend on Adobe Flash by any chance? Or maybe 2 hamsters running fast enough on a wheel? ;). Hopefully, whatever they are doing will get resolved soon.

So - after waiting 2 days, I tried again. I did go ahead and make a new login that is just "Viewer". And - this time it worked. So my best guess is that the "2 days" thing is what did it. But - with Xfinity - who knows ?

Numerous Xfinity users have now reported this. I think it should be the first thing to try when authentication issues appear.

If you're having this issue please try the latest prerelease which fixes an incompatibility issue with newer versions of Chrome.
