Help creating custom channel for Family Handyman TV

I was hoping that someone could help me with making a custom channel for the stream on https://familyhandyman.tv/

In doing an inspect and going to the network tab for the active video, I believe I have the m3u8 stream here:

And when I pop that into VLC it works as expected, however, when I create a custom channel from it, selecting HLS or MPEG-TS (either one does the same thing), and entering the m3u8 string above in as a "URL" for the source, it looks like I get 10 channels but all of them do the same thing. In a desktop browser, they look like they are going to load, then they say "reconnecting" and then the play window is gone and nothing is playing. In the Channels IOS app I get the message that says "could not parse playlist: jkn-fh-android.otteravision.com: can't detect playlist type"

I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong or missing and could use any assistance.

Also, any thoughts on how to get an XMLTV guide for this would be wonderful as well. Thanks!

You cannot enter that url directly. You need to select Text mode and create a three line M3U where the third line is that URL

Does it matter if I select HLS or MPEG-TS when doing that? If so, any thoughts on which it would be or how to tell?

A stream of "At Home with Family Handyman" is also included in the custom channel setup available via Plex. And it has pretty good guide data:

That's excellent! I never thought of mining through Plex for some info. How/where did you find this in Plex btw? I'd love to learn for the future!

I don't recall where I first learned of it but there's a thread collecting similar free sources here:

Note that PBS doesn't work anymore though, they added DRM which breaks integration :frowning:
