Ignoring the 9.0 debacle, thoughts on Shield Pro vs Win 10?

I use a Shield Pro- the previous model. I use a Synology Diskstation DS90 to record to. The whole setup works very well. With that being said, sometimes commercial skip can be a little off. I don't believe that the skip issues are a Channels or Diskstation issue, but rather a problem with recording weak over the air stations. The Diskstation playback was much faster as compared to the Shield attached USB drive I initially used. The whole setup-HD Home Run - Shield -Diskstation is not a cheap solution, but it works.

There is a setting in the computer's BIOS that you canchange so the computer always restarts after a power failure. It works for me.

Same. No password. Automatic restart. I have no issues after an outage. Have one of those mini J4125 boxes off of Amazon. It's been solid and sits behind my tv connected via ethernet. Don't know why people have issues with Windows. Every now and then I'll switch over to it to install updates, but that's pretty much been it. And I'm sure I could have those done on the overnight when I know I'm not recording anything.

Just to add my small input, I did debate running the server on my Shield, however, I do find that I need to restart my Shield more often than I want to (because some App or another is refusing to play ball), this is fine if it's just a client, but if it's the server, and it's recording, thats an interrupted recording.

In my opinion, best to keep them separate

I had no problems with the Shield before the v9 update. I updated to v9 and had all the problems everyone had. I reverted back to v8.2.3 and it runs without a single issue.

However, my Shield runs only two things, the Channels server and client. I don't know if there are any issues if you run other things on your Shield at the same time as the Channels apps.

Yea, I used the Shield for years, and just using it as a normal streamer box, I kept having to reboot it at least 1x each month, as started to be slower and laggy, and sometimes, apps just crashed or would freeze. Reboot it, then everythign back to normal.
