Imports?

Done.

I know I’m missing something here, but I have the latest server build and for the life of me, I cannot find any options to import my movie collection. What am I missing here? I’m on a MacMini Server edition and have all my files stored locally on the mini. How do I add this as a media source?

What is your current versions? Only prerelease versions have the option to import outside recordings. Current prerelease version 2019.11.14.0115.

What version of the DVR are you running?
DVR web UI Setting tab under Status
Version 2019.11.14.0115

It should be about middle of the page on the Settings tab

No wonder!! I have the 10.29 older version but the UI says I’m “Up to date”. How can I force update the server?

Hmmm. Maybe I’m not subscribed to pre release versions? Cause I can’t update to anything after 2019.10.29.0031. Thanks!

The October 29 version is the latest stable release. Shift+Click the "Check for update" button to check for prereleases.

Niiiice!! Thank you. That picked it right up. New to Channels, still bumping my head around a bit. I appreciate the help. Can’t wait to give Plex one big kick in the butt. Channels was a savior!!!

The scanning worked pretty well. Only two movies weren’t matched, and I can’t seem to correct them. One is: “Big Pun: The Legacy” (2007), and I did omit the “:”. The other one is: Porky’s (1981), and yes I did omit the apostrophe. Both of these movies appear in IMDB and Plex scans them just fine. What can I do to get the posters and info for these movies?

Find the movie and select Fix Incorrect Match

Unfortunately, that didn’t work for me. For either title.

For Big Pun: The Legacy, key in Big Pun in the search and it should show up.
For Porky's, key that in the search box with the apostrophe.

Hint: I cheated by using the "Find TV shows and movies" search box at https://tvlistings.zap2it.com

That’s not picking up accurate results either. For Big Pun’s title, nothing shows up for the artwork or poster, and for Porky’s it shows some odd artwork that doesn’t correspond with the movie. IMDB has the correct artwork for these titles. I believe channels is scraping their artwork elsewhere, which is what’s causing the irregularities.

Can you post a screenshot? Did you click into the text box and add the apostrophe?

I see that importing from Channels DVR isn't the same as searching at zap2it.
See what you mean about totally unrelated artwork. Let's just say a small square blue foil pack is not a movie poster.

Gracenote doesn't have artwork for Big Pun's title.

Thanks for the help. I went ahead and fixed Porky’s, although I don’t have the BlueRay version it doesn’t really matter. Hopefully when this is fully polished we would be able to pick our own scrapers, or at least have the option to upload our own DVD Artwork like Plex does for rare instances they can’t locate it. Either way, I like the direction Channels is going in! Can’t wait to see how all this pans out. The ONLY thing keeping me in the Plex ecosystem is the Media organization, iTunes plug in, and the Phillips Hue plugin that allows automation of entertainment areas during media playback. But, I do get to enjoy those without a premium plan, so no biggie there. Just wish I can have everything in one App/Ecosystem.

Has this "alpha" feature been removed? I imported in my test DVR but my Wife's DVR no longer shows Import Option:

Missing in new beta DVR
Local Content Import your existing media library into the DVR

Still in mine (new public release today) 2019.11.19.2312

Oops, guess that's only if you have already defined an import and imported, because it's missing on my other install that wasn't using it.

That's a good thing. Hopefully this will cut down on the feature requests until the feature is ready for beta testing.
