You're right I misread your question, sorry about that. My simple brain had trouble with your long sentence with little punctuation. My bad.
Oh, good, I'm not the only one, @babsonnexus !
It's hard to understand a very long sentence that is a paragraph long with little punctuation.
I would like to help but I still don't understand the question.
You need to be a little clearer on what you want to do.
You said "extract strmfiles"
You can use Stream Links or Stream Files in Channels DVR.
I want a way to automatically create the strm files from the vod content of my iptv provider
And doesn't actually ask the question we're being told in ALL CAPS to answer! Well, anyway, I'm done here; solutions were offered, OP needs to follow links and do reading of their own and then I believe that question would be answered. Then again, my tiny brain is probably missing some critical point again. Seems like the question is, "How do I find a link within a service only I have access to that no one knows what it is?"
Stop creating identical cross-posts on the same subject.
and follow-up in this topic instead.
im trying to delete it because i accidentally created it but i cant
the one that you closed was completely different question
Which one
Ok now I understand the question. I think. I hope. Please don't hurt me.
@babsonnexus has an excellent app that can automatically create stream files:
However, this only works with services that are recognized by JustWatch
So I'm guessing your IPTV provider, which you have not mentioned, is probably not supported.
Yes, I think this is my understanding too.
do you happen to have an answer to my new question from above that i edited?
Just a wild guess: the format of the stream file created by the third party application probably doesn't match what Channels expects.
Hard to tell without seeing the content of it.
Also, just to make sure I fully understand this statement:
VLC is quite robust and can play pretty much everything you throw at it.
In the case of Channels, the file format matters for the intended purpose.
Are they stream links or stream files?
Just asking to avoid confusion in our answers.
What is the name of the file, especially the file extension?
Also inside the file, what is the extension of the link?
Just trying to gather more data to have a better idea what could be wrong.
the files end with strm so i guess they are stream files and the link inside the file ends with .mkv
file extension is .STRM link extension is .MKV
THANKS BY THE WAY IN ADVANCE for the help
Both extensions seem fine for a stream file.
Where is this stream file located for Channels to use?
Is it in the Imports folder of the DVR data folder?
Sorry, just checking the basics.
Can you also show the lines from the DVR log file when you tried to play one stream file?
When you use VLC to play the link, is VLC on the same device where your Channels DVR is running?
This has given me a headache . OK, search Google for ERD Xtream Downloader as it will extract the strm files when you use your Xtreme code login info from your provider. 2nd you also have the choice to download the vod program etc they offer to add to your library.
