Minimum Required for Free TVE Channels

Just curious what the best (& cheapest) solution would be to keep the 50 free TVE channels. Really like the news channels for background and some of the subnets that stream are not available/reliable OTA with my HDHomeruns.

My current solution is a Sling subscription to Hallmark Movies for $6. Was considering switching to Curiosity Stream through Sling for $3. The Sling account does need to active in some fashion, right?

I'm not in a Locast area and have no interest adding TV to my cheap Xfinity internet promo. April & October baseball on YTTV fills my sports viewing needs.

Any thoughts?

Hmm. Technically the sling account doesn't need to stay active. If you hid all the pay channels and didn't try to use them, the free ones should continue to work.

Quick Update:
The Hallmark subscription from the Sling account has lapsed. I've had no problems recording today from the TVE version of Buzzr, and an update added the Minnesota CBS News without causing other issues.
