New Streaming Service Has all the Channels I want!

I think the statement is more akin to: since this service cannot be used with Channels in any form at the moment, discussion of it on Channels' forum seems like advertisement.

(A bit like commenting about a great new frozen crab cake on a kosher food forum ... other than both being food, it really has no real reason to be discussed.)

Thank you!

Consider any missing 24 hour news networks a feature, not a bug.

"Well, you won't be able to record History"

What does that mean? I want to get Philo and channels and are you saying that it won't record the history channel?

A+E Network channels (of which History is one) do not provide live linear-programming streams on their website for TV Everywhere logins, therefore those channels—including History—are not available for use within Channels. That includes both viewing and recording.

(If your cable/OTT provider's TVE login does work for those networks, you can use the respective app to view on-demand versions of the programs after they have aired live. This is what we do in my household to get our Forged in Fire fix; which is a bummer because the unskippable commercials get rather repetitive.)

I think the confusion is since Channels uses your provider login, they Record from their website. That is not true. Channels records a live stream from the individual channels website which History does not provide a live stream.

If you add the shows to record in Philo you can skip through the commercials. I always start playback of my shows like Live PD 45 mins into the program so I can forward through the commercials. If you watch the programs live without adding the show to your DVR you have to view the ads. I have subscribed to Philo for about 15 months and this is the work around for not viewing ads.
Unfortunately there are many networks that can only be streamed through their apps only or through a Live TV Stream or Cable provider. Warner and Viacom Networks especially. To get the most channels on Channels DVR is a combo of Philo and Hulu or YTTV.
