Non-Docker source for PlutoTV m3u playlists and EPG

I was assuming that if one wanted to run multiple instances, if one has multiple servers, like I do, you would need to run it on different ports, so each server can get its own playlist URL.

I would need to run one for my main server, and one for my mothers server.
So that both can multi stream 4 each and not both be limited to 4 streams total.
(she tends to record a lot)
And I only have one always on Win machine.

The IP owners want their cut. That's always the bottom line.

But who are the IP owners?

Skydance/Paramount own Pluto last I heard.

And if you've ever used their official way using a web browser or device app, you'd see that Pluto is useless that way because it is the most horrible interface ever developed.

Thanks again for your efforts!

Sure, but we haven't heard from them, ever.

They're not the ones killing off nocords.xyz.

I suspect we'd only hear about it if someone was charging money to give alternate access to their IP. I've never seen or read their API, and I am not a lawyer.

If your PHP solution using nocords.xyz can't work around the login thing, does it really matter? It was a good thing while it lasted.

It can't evolve into something you would have to charge for without the IP owners getting their cut. That's why they have an army of lawyers at huge corporations. I would argue they are the ones killing it off simply by enforcing a login.

Im sorry, but you really don't understand the issue here. There is no IP being misappropriated. They make their API and content entirely FREE and open to the public.

Please stop this "the owners getting their cut" -- that doesn't even make sense. Cut of what, exactly? Pluto's entire revenue model is based on ADS you see DURING THE SHOWS. The more people can WATCH THE SHOWS the MORE MONEY THEY MAKE.

Nocords and all these other tools provided easy access to the CONTENT, which the OWNERS are in full control and make money from ads.

If you don't what you're talking about, please stop.

I never said that. In fact I said I would fix it.

And that same login would be used on nocords.xyz. It's really no different than a user accessing those tokens themselves. Again, you don't know what you're talking about. At all.

Just installed the 1.3.0 Maddox one in docker on Synology, added the variables for user name and password via the Synology popups and Pluto is back for me on AppleTV. What I haven't got to test yet is number of simultaneous streams such as if the DVR is recording 1 or 2 things while I'm watching something else but I'll be on that shortly. I saw the GitHub notes about environment variables and went ahead and created a few just in case that might address this scenario. For me, that was as easy as adding the user name and password.

BIG THANKS to the developer for updating this docker implementation so quickly. It's fantastic to have so much TV all merged together into ONE interface... and then a customizable interface that can prune so much down to exactly the "channels" important to me and mine.

UPDATE: I got 3 different streams of Pluto playing at the same time, so this seems like a complete solution for others with a Synology-based setup, etc like mine.

Just to play devil's advocate....what we don't know is what additional data/metrics are being collected when using their app vs a third-party. One example I remember when I was poking around on a streaming app's communications was that the app was actually sending back your location via longitude/latitude (sorry, don't remember exactly which service I was looking at). It's all about the data now-a-days.

Plus, the data they collect since you're now logged in, and they have plenty of buyers building profiles of everyone. The data may be more valuable than the ad revenue, judging by their empty ad slots galore.

Perhaps, but I do know it's all about money.

Again, who's money are we talking about?

Since the actual content streams are still requested by, and delivered to, the end client, they're still able to collect that information.

No, that's not the way it works for anything besides the fact you are watching a stream...but quite frankly, it's not worth my time arguing about it.

Thank you so much for updating the Docker!! Works great!

Skydance. Thought I mentioned that already.

Also, why not go ahead with your plan? CHDVR only said not to discuss $$$ for your service here. I'm guessing they don't care about what's been up here for years already. I used it the entire time it's been available, and it would make no sense for you to shut it down because you couldn't discuss finances here.

Right?

FYI, Pluto still plays on the old Google Live Channels app

It plays on their website too, but what does that have to do with Channels DVR?

The beauty for most of us is that we can timeshift with ChannelsDVR. Personally, I use Pluto very little, but the relatives sure enjoy it when they are here.

It's everything I can do to make time for the sports I'm addicted to. Tonight, for instance, is a crap night on the NBA schedule, so I will likely catch a movie on Pluto, and I can pause it with ChannelsDVR and get up to grab a drink or visit the men's room without missing any of the show.
