Notification if DVR Directory is missing/inaccessible

Today I went to the Recordings Page to play for a show that should have been recorded earlier and it wasn’t there. There was no listing and no error saying why it wasn’t recorded. I then tried to record a show from the guide that was currently being broadcast. I could not begin the recording and there was no indication or error telling me why.

I spent several very frustrated minutes trying to figure out what was wrong. It turns out the external disk with my DVR Directory was unmounted on the server. I remounted the disk and I was able to record again. Why the disk was unmounted is not important. The fact that it was not available is.

It seems to me that if a DVR server cannot find the location it is to record to, that is a MAJOR (FATAL?) ERROR that should be communicated to the DVR client. Is it possible to prominently display such a message on the client?

My server is a Mac Mini and the clients are Apple TVs.

The clients aren't meant for admin tasks, that is the role of the DVR web UI.
You should see some errors in the DVR log.
