PI4B wont boot

Some other users have reported this and I am struggling to figure out what the issue is.

What if you flash the latest firmware via SD, and remove all the firmware files on the USB?

Or maybe you can try USB boot of a different OS and see if that works?

Trying raspbien now on a usb.

Raspbien on a usb drive worked fine.

Something about the channelsdvr image on the external usb is the issue

I have had many issues using the MyBook drives as boot drives for the Pi. The only way I have been able to get it to boot was:

  1. Start from a Power Off state for all devices.
  2. Plug the MyBook into power.
  3. Plug the MyBook into the Pi's USB port.
  4. Plug the Pi in, and boot.

If the system goes down or needs to reboot for any reason, the only way I was able to get a successful boot was to repeat the above steps. In my personal experience, the MyBook line is unsuitable to use as a boot drive with the Pi. I have found, however, that the EasyStore line of drives does work well if you want to stay with WD.

Tried this, just put raspbien on that external drive and it booted just fine

What OS are you running Pi Imager on?

MacOS 10.15

V1.6.2 on imager

Looks like the image is possibly the problem, I burned it to a sdcard and still won’t boot

Do you have old images?

Damn same error!

Could it be the imager? I just Re imaged it with windows

Here is it trying to boot from sdcard

Tried another Pi and it works, I’m happy to keep testing on this other pi that it’s not working if you have things to check

@Blueharford Can you screenshot the same bootloader screen on the Pi that is working?

I have a theory that Pi 4 (v1.4) are not working. In your screenshot above it shows "board: c03114". The ones I have here which are working say c03112

I also had an issue with 1.4.2

What is 1.4.2?

I meant 1.6.2

Appears there is a CPU change in newer Pi. Could that be the issue with the Official Image?

A new release is out and the links to the RPI image have been updated on our website. This build should fix the boot loop issue, and supports more models like the Pi 400.
