For most people that would be a waste of computer resources to detect commercials on imports that have none. The devs assume whatever you import is already ad free. If they did implement it, I hope it's optional.
Yes, I would agree that if it were to be implemented that it would be optional.
I'm actually upset with PlayOn.....I bought a 'lifetime' Desktop license a while back. Now see it's been renamed PlayOn Home and to get new features/Win11 support they require a monthly/yearly fee.
Also with the Cloud solution.....why no ability to schedule recordings from Android TV (have to use Android mobile).
I'm upset with PlayOn for this as well. However, I found another app that is similar to PlayOn called StreamFab by the makers of DVDFab. I've been using it for a little over a week and really like it. It doesn't stream things from services like NetFlix, but actually downloads them and it does so much faster than streaming the show. It depends on the source service, but many of the things I've downloaded are at 1080p with 6 channel audio. I've even gotten a few HBO Max titles at 4K resolution. One thing it doesn't have is the ability to subscribe to a show and get new episodes as they are released. I got their "All in One" lifetime deal for $240 which is pretty expensive. Check it out at https://www.dvdfab.cn/ It works with Hulu, HBO Max, Paramount+ Disney+, Discovery+ and many other services.
I checked out StreamFab and it seems to be a great utility. Getting that quality of video and audio downloaded would be nice but not sure if I can justify the price tag.
I'm always a bit leary of "lifetime" sub. A company named Skylum had lifetime for photography software as did another called Topaz. Both cancelled their "lifetime" promise. I cancelled them. Not saying this company would, but nothing lasts forever.
If they stop supporting Playon Desktop that would be the end of the lifetime subscription. They make more money on Playon Cloud.
