Pricing Suggestions

For me the perfect killer app would be one with the following

  • One Time charge for the Channels DVR component. No Guide included, but with support for Schedules Direct for those already with an account

  • Option: Annual or Monthly (Max $10/month) subscription for Guide

  • Option: $2/month additional to ALSO support the SDDVR. (You guys have already done ALOT of work related to the SDDVR and many have bought Channels and even additional/new ATV4s with the expectation that it would work with the SDDVR). Understandable if the Channels DVR would be a pre requisite for the SDDVR feature.

  • Option: DRM (Max additional $4.00/ Month) for DRM (this should cover either/or both SDDVR and Channels DVR DRM

Thanks for the clarification

To me as an European (Finland) with far less channels than what there are in the US, the $10/month would be a no-go. At a maximum I have access to about 20 channels. That monthly amount is almost double of what I would pay at any circumstances.

Much the same for me, in the US. I only use channels for OTA TV, and even then I only get the three main networks(NBC, ABC, and CBS). In the shadow of a hill that prevents me from getting Fox or PBS with out a gigantic thing way above my roof, PBS app is great so no loss there, fox would be nice, but oh well.

Even so I only occasionally use OTA TV so It would be nice if the guide component would be a separate part that is not needed for the software to run, as long as I can just set manual recordings as needed. In the past I used EyeTV, with TitanTV to set recordings remotely. But I stopped using EyeTV some time ago as it was a pain to transcode(SLOW) then load shows into iTunes to watch with my appleTV.
