As has been stated many times, the content flows from server -> client. What you are asking is for the content for flow from the reverse. You say it's easy, but reality says different. In fact, the developers have told you specifically that it's difficult.
If this is a feature you require, then you need to find software that supports your needs. Channels is not that software. (Personally, I have found that MythTV supports the type of situation you want; you may want to look there. Also, I believe SageTV does something similar.)
