Refresh Guide

Is there a way to force a refresh of the guide?

My specific issue is that the Sugar Bowl (UGA Vs Notre Dame) was postponed from last night until 4pm today. It is not showing up in the guide today and I would like to record it. I can probably find out what channel will air it and set up a recording, but that's less than ideal.

Advice and options appreciated.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that is what the “Redownload Guide” option does in each Source in Settings > Sources (show the dropdown options by clicking “Manage” next to a particular source).

(I can confirm the Sugar Bowl is showing up for me on ESPN at 4 PM today after a guide refresh of my TV Everywhere source (YouTube TV), although I didn’t think to check if it was there already before the refresh).

Channels DVR updates its guide automatically every morning.
If I'm not mistaken, I think I read somewhere that this happens some time between 09:00 and 11:00 EST.

From my own observation on my system, it's been consistently around 09:00 ~ 09:30.
I just checked my log from yesterday and it started the guide update at 09:04 and finished by 09:15 with 25 sources.

As I type this message now, it's 09:06 and it has not started the guide update yet. That's because it's busy doing post processing on a couple of recordings (commercial detection).

--- Edit: fun fact, it started the guide update seconds after I finished posting my message above. It's 09:12 right now and it's in the middle of the guide update. :slightly_smiling_face:

You can also completely delete and re-download the guide database to get the latest all around:

Maybe wait until after 2pm to make sure you have as up-to-date guide data as possible.

I I'm not seeing the ability to redownload. I am on a Mac right now using Channels from the App Store. I don't currently have access to my AppleTV which is where I mostly watch.

My guide updated on its own this morning and I am all set to record.

Thanks for all who offered suggestions. I was unable to find the setting to force a re-download of the guide.
I mainly watch channels on my living room AppleTV. I have an HD Home Run as a source as well as a login to Dish (which has access to ESPN etc). This is run on a Mac mini at my home. This morning I am running Channels on a MB Air and I don't currently have access to the Mac mini or the AppleTV.
I would like to figure this out should the situation repeat.

It's in the Channels DVR Server web admin UI.
You can access it from any web browser on your network.

Thanks. Before the guide updated, I did set up to record a show on ESPN. Luckily for me it was a HS FB game set to go 3 hours. I added the max 120 min to the end time (sadly for a college FB bowl game, this may not be enough). I wish I could have said "Record ESPN start at 4pm for 6 hours" but I couldn't figure out how to do that.

Anyway, I'd love to take this opportunity to level up my Channels knowledge and figure this stuff out. Not there yet.

Thanks, I cannot find that option :flushed:

it showed up not long after I read this post. Thanks!

Web UI > Settings > Live TV & DVR > Guide Data > Maintenance > Gear Dropdown

Using OliveTin for Channels, you can set up a manual recording.

You can do pretty much anything in Channels, but a lot of more advanced activities are only available from a community project.

Had to delete and recreate Guide DB for the game to show up.
