Remotely using ios app fine but not web browser

If Safari on iOS device is fine, it seems more likely that there’s some sort of bandwidth throttling happening when you enable tethering (or the hotel wifi is not very good).

You can use http://my.channelsdvr.net/speedtest as a way to run a speedtest against your home DVR server, to see exactly what the bandwidth and latency is like.

Normally I would think that too but it also does it on my home LAN. Even wired connections with gigabit Ethernet.
