Since it seems so easy to reproduce and nobody replied, I deleted the recording.
I can create another recording if needed.
I'm unable to reproduce the issue. I need someone to provide me a DVR recording that causes the issue somewhere that I can download so I can try to recreate the issue myself.
When I opened this topic it was because it happens on live tv when back in the timeline. I submitted diags multiple times with no response.
If you can PM me a link to a free cloud storage I can make another recording and put it there.
I previously used Firefox Send, but that was discontinued.
I would think you're not going to have the same video index and comskip data I do though.
Also, my NAS hardware transcodes the recording for playback in the web UI player so possibly the output of that transcode will be different than what you get?
I am seeing this same issue.
When watching a recording (typically Science Channel via Philo), automatic commercial skip sometimes doesn't appear to detect the correct gap where the commercials are and stops skipping too soon. I try and skip forward to get to where the show resumes and I get stuck in this loop. It skips forward then immediately jumps back to the start of where auto skip stopped initially. I've found that I can do one of two things...
- Watch the commercials without trying to skip forward.
- Hold the skip button on the remote to "force" it to get past the problem area in the recording.
With option #2, it will typically jump way too far ahead and then I have to go backwards. If I go too far backwards (near the problem spot), it will get stuck in the loop again.
I can provide whatever files are necessary to troubleshoot this.
Which app/device/platform?
I find this often happens with TVE streams when the inserted commercials have a different time base than program stream. I feel that it is a shortcoming of how the networks insert the commercials, and not something that Channels can always correct.
(Honestly, I've even seen similar issues with some programming on satellite TV, too, so it's not specific to Channels and TVE.)
My example recording was from the Logo channel on cable, although it happens on other cable channels.
Not sure if any of the devs looked at the screen recording I made.
Running Channels DVR on a Raspberry Pi 4B. Client is a Fire TV (Gen 1) running the Channels app.
This is probably why.
I see it on a new shield pro as the client and a synology 1618+ so mine is probably a network issue, although no other apps, netflix, amazon, philo, everything else works fine.
I found a current recording that exhibits this behavior. It gets stuck at the 16 minute mark on my Fire TV. When playing the recording back on any of my other devices (two Fire TV Sticks and my NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1), the recording gets stuck in the exact same location.
Can you submit diagnostics from the app after it gets stuck. Diagnostics from newer android OS versions tend to have more useful information.
Does the recorded mpg file play back fine in VLC?
Happens on AppleTV also. See first few posts in thread.
Do you know what happened with the diags I submitted long ago?
