Skipping Episodes when watching Series

I'm watching various TV series on channels which have been imported. Pressing 'play' on the series plays where we left off - great - but often the next episode is skipped totally randomly even though all episodes in the whole series are 'unwatched'.

Is there anything I'm missing here to stop this happening?

So the countdown appears with the correct next episode and then after the countdown the correct episode plays for approx 1 second and the folllwijt episode plays. All future episodes are unmatched.

Are all of your episodes imported from the same source? Do they all follow the same file naming convention?

Yeah I think this is a Blu-ray rip bc and the names are names are organised

Are the filenames whatever came from the software you used to rip the files? Or, have you renamed them to follow the Channels DVR recommended file naming conventions? Before I import from outside sources, I usually rename the files to match what CDVR expects to see.

In particular, for series with several episodes:

Note: Channels supports many filename formats for TV shows, but it’s important to fulfill at least 2 rules:

  1. The parent folder containing the episode files must be named after the title of the show.
  2. Episode files must have season and episode number indicators in them.

For example: /The Office/The Office - S01E01 - Pilot.mp4

When indexing this episode, Channels will see that it is Season 1, Episode 1, of The Office. It will use this information to properly organize your episodes.

Episode files can be nested under season folders and indexing will work as well: /The Office/Season 1/The Office - S01E01 - Pilot.mp4

Below are some examples of different folder structures and naming conventions that can work.

  • /USB_DRIVE/tv/The Office/Season 1/1x01.mkv
  • /USB_DRIVE/tv/The Office/s01e01.mp4
  • /USB_DRIVE/tv/Seinfeld/02x05.mp4

Yeah it’s not naming as it will play all of them absolutely file, even the autoplay will play it for a second but then it just jumps forward to the next episode so we have to stop, go back to the tv show and find the show etc.

My belief is this is an autoplay issue as I’ve had it to many other series.

Show ends > countdown on screen > episode 2 next (for example), on zero episode 2 plays but then jumps to episode 3. One has to return to the menus to get back to episode 2. annoying.

Now that I understand the details of your problem, it sounds very much like the issues I have been having with the last several beta releases for Android. You problem isn't limited to Apple TV. This seems to be a universal issue. It's not just autoplay, either. I don't use autoplay, and have had trouble with the series jumping ahead by one or more episodes while viewing through the series menu interface. I have reported the details more than once over the past year or two.
