I thought only WMC allowed playback of cable card channels?
WMC is the only one that allows for recording of DRMed cablecard channels. Most systems/channels don't use it widely, though some do.

HDHomeRun APP allows playback of Cable DRM Channels using Prime Devices.

Notable that Charter is stating "Failure of TV Everywhere" explicitly. Between this and DRM on ATSC3, it's starting to look awfully bleak.
The cable companies have no interest in TVE and never liked it. They want to control everything and saw TVE as a loss of control. I believe TVE helped the content providers more because it gave users options as to how to view the providers content and allow people choices in how to view the content. I believe the thing killing TVE is that the content providers would rather work with users directly on their own sites and apps. If enough people do this then their future negotiations with the middle men are turned upside down.
Worth a read and perhaps the actual facts will enlighten you?

What I read in this user entered content says one cable company wanted it. And then “Some broadcasters were initially hesitant to introduce TV Everywhere services, with concerns that they might affect advertising revenue and not be adequately counted by Nielsen ratings.”. And then the whole section on “The shift to subscription-based services” by the content providers. I don’t want to get into an argument. You think what you think and I will do the same.

That's because they don't do anything but what they want anyways I'm working on a all in one that will also allow Stremio add-ons for a movie section including Plex & other server integrations to be added followed by kodi style themes etc $5 a month $50 yearly it's time for a change.
