Hello, is it possible to use *.Strm files when importing content to Movies or TV shows. I use cloud server with *.mkv files and don't have local storage.
playback works in VLC, FFMPEG and MPV emby, kodi have support too.
plex used to work with *.Strm but stopped support about a few years back.
Are these just text files holding links to external urls?
Yes. They are simple text files with a .strm extension. The text contains the url to the external file.
Like:
https://somethinghere/api/stream/username/password/tvshow/something/2/1
These won’t work with Channels out of the box due to how we stream and index files with their metadata.
We’ll look into what it would take to support them though.
yes as stated it's just a txt file renamed to *.strm extension
title of movie (year).strm
inside the txt file is a link:
http://server:port/movie/username/password/title.mkv
