For the HDHR PRIME, it is very important that the HDHR and the DVR be plugged into the same physical switch.
Also, if you use a tuning adapter, make sure it's connected in parallel, not series, with the tuner.
They are. However, we have 10 TVs throughout the house, all running the Channels app on Firestick 4Ks, and some are connected to the main switch through another switch. Both switches are enterprise grade so I never thought they would be the issue. Any way to test if that's the case? The stutter issue is very consistent so it doesn't seem random.
You can try enabling Settings > Playback > Advanced > Tuner Sharing to see if it helps. If not, submit diagnostics from one of the client devices after the issue occurs.
I turned on tuner sharing. Should video decoder be hardware or software? It's set to software right now. Also, we don't experience the stuttering when watching Netflix or other services on the Firestick; only happens when using Channels. That's why I didn't think it was a network issue.
Try setting it to Hardware.
Other apps like Netflix are not a valid comparison.
You can either try comparing live tv in the official HDHomeRun app, or compare playing a recording from the same channel.
Just watched 2 recorded shows with no issues. Then switched to live tv and it happened within a few minutes. Submitted diagnostic log. I ran the Speedtest in the app and it shows 100.52 Mbit/ sec download, 1.99 ms latency, and 1.33 ms jitter. Will try hardware encoding and see if that does anything.
Looks like heavy corruption of the mpeg2 stream in your logs, which points to a signal or network issue. Was this with tuner sharing on?
You can open the Tuner Status page on my.hdhomerun.com which will show you the signal strength/quality and also the streaming rate while you're watching a live station.
I am having similar issues with my HDHR Prime. My Chennels server is running on a Synology DS916+ with the DX517 expansion bay. I had a corrupt drive which I have replaced and still having issues with the stuttering. I am using the channels app with four ATVs and they are all connected with RJ45s. Everything is plugged into a Netgear GS728TPS switch. I have not had any issues up until the last few weeks. I cannot pinpoint when exactly the issues started. Initially I had turner sharing off and have now turned on. It did not seem to make a difference. I also updated my HDHR Prime to the latest firmware.
If you use the HDHomeRun app instead does it also show the same issues?
