What's the future of Channels DVR with the trend of networks shutting down TV everywhere services? (ie: Fox, NBC, ABC Disney Natgo and now Hallmark).. Probably more I'm unaware of...
I agree it's still a viable service; however there's nothing out there I'm aware of, that is as convenient as Channels ... Thoughts?
I just checked now and Hallmark TVE is working fine for me with DirecTV credentials.

They end their web access as of tomorrow I believe.
Oh yes, I remember the message about that but I'm not sure if it's their TVE feeds or their old Hallmark app that they're shutting down.
Now, they provide their TV feeds in their Hallmark+ (paid) app.
We will know for sure tomorrow.
TVE was just...easy
But not the end of the world...
HDHomerun + antenna = a ton of local channels (and all the free OTA from Channels TVE) in Channels
FRNDLY Docker project = good amount of channels in Channels
ADBtuner Docker project = needed channels not in TVE in Channels
Tubi Docker = more channels in Channels
Pluto Docker = more channels in Channels
Of course, we could all save time and money by just using the native apps for all the services, but that would be no fun.
Selfless plug - check out my FastChannels project too. It’s an attempt to make adding FAST services easy and all in one shop.
I don't watch Hallmark.. I was just including it as an example..
I use Chrome Capture for Channels and get any channel I want through Spectrum.
Because of this is why I'd love to see Channels really lean into their imported media capability. I'm not sure they can compete with Plex, Infuse, etc. (and they probably don't want to), but the customization of Channels, along with the best-in-class DVR functionality is what really appeals to me - the ability to have a single application that handles everything is my desired end-state.
They made good strides last year with the new media screens, etc. but would love to see even more (especially if they could get the Android client more on-par).
Please explain Chrome Capture.. And how it's used in Channels DVR?
IMO much better to use the new PrismCast project instead of CC4C, it's the same chrome capture but with way better tools to manage and stream the channels.
With Prism you can get back most if not all of the lost TVE. I get Fox, NBC, PBS, ESPN family but not ABC because they won't allow my provider to stream from abc.com. Same for CBS, but that was an issue before TVE started dying off.
You can pull in CBS/ABC through PrismCast by setting up the capture from your TV Provider's web access. It counts against your stream limit, but does enable capturing those channels within Channels for those who can't pull in via OTA.
And 100% agree with @GTFan, PrismCast is the way to go vs the CC4C or other forks.
If your TV provider allows it, sure. I have no web access through my provider to those channels. But my provider is Hotwire which is not one of the biggies.
Have their internet I believe up in my parents place in western nc. Good internet service.
Well, I think the answer is clear now. Hallmark TVE was still working through 4/1 but it seems to be dead as of yesterday (4/2).
Still working nicely with the Frndly TV Docker.
The FRNDLY tv docker doesn'
t receive Hallmark from jTVE.
Hallmark dropped their native app that used what we know of as TVE to provide the stream.
The app was removed so it is safe to say the stream was dropped allowing for the commpany to devote resources to the paid offering.
AS someone who manages servers and understands the need for revenue, i totally think it is a good decision.
Hallmark is gone
