TVE sometimes plays with a gross studder

So I think I finally caught a log on this. I went in to view a TVE channel tonight and the channel had a huge video studder but audio was smooth. When this happens I back out and go right back in and it plays smooth. So I went into the log and it appears the channel tried to play at 24fps when the studdering happened and when I backed out and went right back in it played at 60fps. You can see that in the log.

I think it happens when I first go into a channel.

Here i a pasteBIN of the LOG I took: https://pastebin.com/0sAivaBH

Where in the log do you see 24fps?

Edit: I found the entry.

Does it depend on if you tune in during commercials vs show?

No sir, I have seen it both ways.

Is it specific to some channels?

Frame rate is generally specified in the h264 bitstream via the SPS. But some encoders do not set it so that could be happening on some channels. I will look into it.

This is probably another bug specific to the hardware decoder. The software decoder should notice the fps change and adjust.

I'm not sure, I don't watch too many channels. I have seen it on Fox news because I watch that one often. I'll have to monitor it.

Maybe all 3 bugs are tied to the same underlying problem?

I just noticed that it can happen coming out of a commercial as well. It just happened to me but doesn't show 24fps in the log. It reads different. I took a video of the studdering if you're interested.

I enabled trans-coding tonight to try that out for a while and it experienced the same problem but looks like it shows tons of buffering while it was happening. Audio was perfectly smooth but video was like I hit play pause play pause over and over. I backed out and when back in and it was smooth as silk after.

What version of the client are you running? There are some strange things I’m seeing in the logs that appear to be a client issue that I had thought we had fixed.

@eric
It is version 2.1.24.beta-v104280157

I'm also seeing that some channels run commercials at 30fps and content at 60fps
