Two hour show records one hour

I am curious why a scheduled recording for a two hour show records only the first hour.

Example 'CBS Mornings' shows on the guide/pass as a scheduled two hour show to be recorded. Yet consistently only hour one is recorded.

?

Sometimes some long simulcast news programs are entered in the guide differently on different channels; one channel may have the program as a single 2 hour airing, while another will have it as 2 separate 1 hour airings.

You may want to check which channel you are expecting the recording to come from versus which channel was actually recorded.

(A while back there was a similar issue.)

Interesting that both the TVE/YTTV channel and the HDHR channel's guide shows a single 2-hour event. Hour 1 is all that is recorded.

What do your DVR logs say regarding the recording?

While the guide indicates a 2-hour contiguous show that is scheduled for recording.

You should exclude channel 6766 from that pass.
CBSNEWS (6766) only airs it for one hour and your local CBS (6003) airs it for 2 hours.
Most likely the scheduler picked up the 6766 one hour airing, but recorded it from 6003.

Did you just recently mark channel 6003 as a Favorite?

You can search the log for 1662984000 to see what the scheduler was thinking.

Did you just recently mark channel 6003 as a Favorite?

Not that I recall, but will exclude 6766 and see what happens. I think channels thinks it was recording from 6003 from the log.

It did. I'm pretty sure in your time zone that show airs at the same time, 7am, on both 6003 and 6766, correct?

If you watch the recording it should have the KTVT channel logo.

No. On the west coast 6766 airs 2 1 hour CBS Mornings programs starting at 4am. 6003 (local CBS TVE) airs the 2 hour program of CBS Mornings.

Not the same show at 4am

I excluded 6766 from the source (for now), refreshed the feed, deleted and re-scheduled the pass on 11.1, and it calendar now shows a 2-hour show scheduled tomorrow.

Here's how Channels DVR picks which channel to record from. Is Channels DVR smart enough to pick the tuner that picks up the strongest signal? - #4 by chDVRuser

See some previous discussion here: OTA show only recording 1 of the 2 hour block

Don't have to Hide/Disable channel 6766.
You can edit the pass (advanced view) and exclude channel 6766 on it.
Either will work
Channel != 6766
Channel EXCLUDES 6766

Yeah, I know about the advanced pass exclusion, but on an client (android at the time), I don't think I can fiddle with advance passes, can I?

FWIW, highest channel number as a default, all things being equal (see the reference on how Channels picks channels) seems odd/backwards to me.

Think of cable.
Channel 2 is SD CBS
Channel 702 is HD CBS

I really don't know why it does it, but it has to sort the channels to pick some way. At least we know how it works and can plan our passes using that information.
