Using Tivo remote with Channels/AppleTV

Hi all,

Have read through a lot of threads on this including the SofaBaton suggestions, and using a remote that has USB/HID keyboard support.

Has anyone been successful on getting whatever variety Tivo remote working with Channels on AppleTV?

I'm also curious about figuring out a "now playing" screen like Tivo - no tiles, just a list.

Old-school TiVo peanut remotes (that rely on Infrared) can also teach the AppleTV their commands, no Bluetooth or FLIRC adapters required:

These remotes can be used concurrently with Bluetooth/RF ones.

The downside of IR however is that it requires line-of-sight, you can’t use the remote under a blanket (for example)

Thanks both!

I had paired the remote using the second option but couldn't use any custom commands like the Tivo key mapped into other stuff.

I ordered the bluetooth stuff just now.

I'd say it's an up-side. :+1: I don't want the remote to change stuff when I sit or sleep on it.

The TiVo S6A remote is Bluetooth and most buttons work. The color buttons do not work (except for red C). Neither does the back button (back is mapped to the TiVo button so no home button). The number buttons do work, along with the ch up down, record, pause play rewind ff, skip forward and back, Guide, and power. The FLiRC is the best solution but this remote is close second.

I've been using a TiVo Slide remote for years, I have the TiVo button mapped to home and the thumbs down mapped to back. Everything works great. It might work in Bluetooth mode, not sure I just use it with IR.

I keep the Apple TV remote in a drawer and only use it when I need to quick scrub through a long event, because it's way faster than fast forward or rewind.

If you have an iPhone/iPad, the built in remote app can do that. Super convenient.
