Virtual Channels issues

Great addition, been waiting for this!

is there no way to customize the order of the channel? its dumping the choices in alphabetical order. is there a way to arrange the schedule?

thanks!

No way to sort yet. It will randomize the chosen content into the schedule.

What kind of sort options would you like?

For movie franchises for example. Let’s say I want to add a marvel channel, I want it in release order so the story flows.

Or a twilight zone channel, I would want them in air date order.

Stuff like that.

Thanks.

If you’ve played with the dizquetv project before, you’ll see that it’s flexible in creating th channel schedule.

You can pick whole shows at once and it will play in episode order, or you can sprinkle in your own seasons or episodes in whatever order.

It’s Very flexible in allowing you to customize your own programming.

Yeah I like that. The marathons. I am also thinking the same in sports. Playing a sequence of historic games

Flexibility will come in time. We’re doing this in inches, not yards, and including everyone so we can iterate at the right places.

I love this feature and have created several virtual channels. I especially like the new feature to choose their sort. However, since yesterday I have not been able to add a new virtual channel. It starts to add, the channel, but when I go back to the previous page and then come back it's not saved.

Which part is not saving?

when you add content to newly created channel. it doesn't work. it disappears when you click out of the newly created channel with content. when you go back to the newly created channel, the content is no longer there.

edit: it just doesnt work. add the channel number also reverts. order also reverts, but it finally stayed.

Should be fixed now.

yup, thanks!

one thing im noticing now is that some content will play with subs/CC on even though its set to off. in order to turn them off, i have to click on English which they stay on, then back to off to completely turn them off. client and server diagnostics submitted: thanks.

Seems like those are burned in?

They are not. This also happens on tv shows which are not burned in as well.

Okay sounds like a bug.

Another data point, looks like I don’t have to click English first then off, you can click off (even though it’s already checked) to turn off the subs. Thanks.

Thank you so much for the quick response. You guys are the best.

Another data point is that this does not happen on the ios beta app, only the apple tv beta app it seems.

even if the tvos global subtitle settings is set to off or auto.

thanks.

@tmm1 any update on this? It happens often and it’s cumbersome to keep turning this off (even though off is checked) every time I tune to a virtual channel.

Just a little nudge!

Thanks.

Does the Channels API not support virtual channels? I've had no luck getting a virtual channel to play via the api/play/channel/{channel_num} POST command (well, on the non-beta version of the ATV Channels app, anyway).
