Wider platform channels app support

Hi all,

Is there any reason channels doesn't support other platforms like Samsung smart TV, LG WEBOS, Even bigger ones like Xbox and the Microsoft store?

Me and a few other friends have been having this discussion for a while that we would love to switch to this and save money on set top box payments and even possibly migrate from our plex media servers but we would have to buy apple tv's for everywhere that currently has LG Smart TVs and Samsung smart TVs and those that don't, Xbox's. I just feel as if channels would have an even bigger audience if you could actually use it in more places?

Thanks for any insight.

This add on will do a lot of what you are asking for

The developers (a small team of 3) have repeatedly said they're not interested in adding new clients.

Welcome to the community! :grinning:

If I understand you question correctly, you are wondering why there are no Channels DVR clients for many platforms.

The main reason is that there are only 3 developers in the team and they are already busy maintaining the existing code base.
They don't have enough resources to support all existing streaming environments.

The main client that gets the most attention is Apple TV.
Second is Android TV.

Recently, there have been community-created clients for Windows but they are not supported officially by the Channels DVR developers.

Oops, @chDVRuser beat me to it while I was typing my long message. :laughing:

FWIW, he's asking about wider client app support on additional platforms, not support for more third-party custom sources. FastChannels is of course an awesome application but it doesn't address the question he's asking.

@Connor_Caunt

If you don't mind using two apps, Channels makes a great backend for Emby which has all the client apps you listed.
