I tried searching but couldn't find much info on this topic. I have been using Channels for a couple of years, but today I finally switched from a primary source of Comcast via HDHomeRun PRIME to a TV Everywhere source of YouTube TV. Everything has been working great, but I was curious about the 4K content. I chose the 4K add-on so that I could watch the subset of Premier League games that are offered in 4K by NBC. I was also curious about ESPN 4K and some of the other 4K sports channels. However, they don't appear in the channel list for the YouTube TV source in the ChannelsDVR settings. In the guide in the AppleTV YouTubeTV app, they look like they're separate channels. Are these considered separate streaming channels as far as ChannelsDVR is concerned? If Channels doesn't list them now, is there any chance that they might be usable in the future? Or, should it list them and I am doing something wrong? I don't mind using the YTTV app every now and then, but it totally blows compared to the ChannelsDVR guide (which I have configured to show data from my HDHomeRun 4K, the MLB.tv Docker container and the ESPN+ Docker container.)
Tv everywhere takes the feeds from desktop network websites which are not in 4k. So the 4k channels you mention won't work in channels.
The ESPN+ docker container supports FOX, and supposedly supports the 4K feed, if selected, but i couldn't get it to get to 4K.
NBC Sports was recently added to the ESPN+ docker container too. I’m not sure if it supports 4K streams the way FOX does. I’ve got my fingers crossed.
Ok, thanks. I reconfigured my EPlusTV setup to add NBC Sports and Fox Sports, but it only shows the USA and Telemundo feeds for Monday's Brentford vs. Liverpool game. I don't know how the rights work, but it seems odd to me that NBC doesn't show the 4K feed on their own, but rather it is branded as the "NBC Sports 4K" channel in the YTTV interface. There's no way to watch the 4K game in Peacock or the older NBC Sports AppleTV app. I know this isn't really a Channels issue, though. The 4K feed is the UK feed with the UK commentators and it removes any NBC/USA/Peacock chyrons like all the other games that are broadcast in the US. I will keep an eye on the guide to see if any 4K content shows up from Fox or the other providers I just added to EPlusTV.
